    The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the UC San Diego School of Medicine invites applications for faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Adjunct Professor level in the field of epigenomics, single-cell epigenomics, and spatial and functional genomics.

Position description

We seek outstanding candidates pursuing innovative and mechanistic research at the molecular, genetic, or biophysical level, across scales from subcellular to entire organisms. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to join a world-class research environment dedicated to uncovering principles of genomic biology and transforming our understanding of tissue and disease architecture at the cellular and molecular level.

  • The Successful Candidates will:

    • Lead an independent research program focused on spatial and functional genomics, supported by extramural funding.

    • Develop novel technologies and/or apply advanced spatial analysis to study tissue microenvironments in health and disease.

    • Engage in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate teaching and mentoring activities within the department.

    • Contribute to collaborative, multidisciplinary research across the School of Medicine and the broader UCSD community.

Qualifications

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, MD/PhD, or PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genomics, Cancer Biology, Virology, Biochemistry, or a related field.

  • Candidates must have at least 1 year of experience in teaching at the university level and mentoring trainees at various career stages.

  • Candidates with a strong record of research productivity, as evidenced by at least 1 publication in a high-impact journal and at least 2 presentations at national/international meetings, are preferred.

  • Candidates with at least 1 year of demonstrated expertise in single-cell epigenomics, spatial genomics, epigenomics technologies, and computational analysis are preferred.

  • Candidates with demonstrated success in obtaining or contributing to extramural research funding are preferred.
