Assistant, Associate or Full Adjunct Professor

About the role
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is conducting an open search for Adjunct Professors (non-tenure track) at the Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full level. At UC San Diego, Adjunct Professors are individuals who:
- Are predominantly engaged in research or other creative work and participate in teaching, or
- Contribute primarily to teaching with limited responsibility for research or other creative work, including professional practitioners of appropriate distinction.
Appointees engage in University and public service consistent with their assignments. The position will remain open until filled based on ongoing departmental needs.
Responsibilities
- Teach and possibly design innovative coursework in computer science and engineering.
- Provide mentorship to university students and supervise student thesis/research.
- Engage in professional activities on campus and services related to the research and development mission of the department and university.
- Conduct research and/or creative activity in one’s respective area of expertise.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application):
- A minimum of 15 years of experience as an academic in computer science (or related fields) or as a senior leader (e.g., CTO, Director, or Senior Lead) in relevant industries.
Preferred qualifications:
- Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
Pay
The appointment is a variable percentage appointment from 0-100%. The base salary range, based on rank and step at appointment, is:
- Assistant Professors: $107,100 - $133,800
- Associate Professors: $128,800 - $150,700
- Full Professors: $144,300 - $232,100
“Off-scale salaries” and other components of pay may be offered to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience.
