About the Role

The USC Rossier School of Education seeks applicants for an open-rank, non-tenure track position (Research, Teaching Clinical or Professional) in the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) program. This on-campus appointment focuses on preparing leaders to achieve educational equity through practice, research, and policy.

The mission of the USC Rossier School of Education is to improve learning opportunities and outcomes in urban settings and address disparities affecting historically marginalized groups. We teach students to value and respect the cultural context of communities and interrogate systems of power shaping policies and practices. Through innovative thinking and research, we strive to solve intractable educational problems.

The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership program prepares students to lead educational institutions at all levels, including K-12 systems, higher education administration, teacher recruitment and retention, and educational testing and psychology. The program is delivered both on-campus and online, with a preference for faculty who can teach in both formats.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in the Ed.D. Educational Leadership (EDL) program to a diverse group of graduate students, both in residence and online.
• Supervise and support graduate students in their research to complete dissertations.
• Participate as a faculty member in the K-12 concentration to support the continued development, implementation, and evaluation of courses in the EDL program, with emphasis on the K-12 and higher education concentrations.

Requirements

• A doctoral degree or other terminal degree is required; a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership is preferred.
• Preference may be given to individuals with senior-level experience, such as a School District Superintendent, Senior Executive in a Community College, College, or University, a Charter Management CEO, or an Independent School Head of School.
• Candidates with a background and demonstrated commitment to equity and improving opportunity and outcomes for historically underserved groups are especially desired.
• Ability to teach both on-campus and online is preferred.

The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership program aims to build critically conscious leaders who take actions to eliminate inequities affecting educational and learning opportunities for children and adults in urban contexts. The program is guided by values including results-orientation, collaborative inquiry, combining research and practice, innovation, and a commitment to equity and diversity.

Pay

The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $175,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
