About the role
The Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine invites applications for a tenure/tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Genetics with a research focus on the roles of DNA repetitive (tandem and interspersed repeats) sequence elements in neurological and neuromuscular disease.
Responsibilities
- Conduct independent research in genetics, including gene expression and regulation, functional genomics and systems biology, developmental genetics, immunogenetics, molecular mechanisms of disease, evolutionary genetics, and other related fields.
- Collaborate with existing research programs in mammalian (human, mouse), Drosophila, viral, bacterial, and cancer genetics, as well as expertise in gene discovery, genome and RNA editing, transcriptional and co/post-transcriptional regulation, disease pathomechanisms, RNA biochemistry, structural biology, protein biochemistry, and computational biology.
- Participate in a highly collegial and collaborative environment with interactions across multiple colleges and institutes.
Requirements
- PhD, MD or MD/PhD in the biomedical sciences or a related field of study.
Qualifications
- Outstanding creative investigator with a research focus on genetics.
- Experience in gene expression and regulation, functional genomics and systems biology, developmental genetics, immunogenetics, molecular mechanisms of disease, evolutionary genetics, and related fields.

Pay
Annual salary range is $150,000 - $230,000 and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
