Assistant/Associate/Full Professor- Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering- College of LAS

Applications are invited for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This search is open to tenure-track or tenured candidates at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level across all areas of chemical and biomolecular engineering. Areas of particular interest include AI/ML, biomolecular engineering, chemical separations, clean energy and sustainability, and process systems engineering.

Faculty members are expected to initiate and sustain a vigorous research program, teach undergraduate and graduate students, and support the administrative and governance functions of the department, the university, and the profession through service on committees, as appropriate. Requirements

• An earned Ph.D. in chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, mechanical engineering, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, applied math, biotechnology, chemical technology, or a closely related field with a distinguished academic record.
• Assistant Professor candidates must demonstrate a promising research agenda and a commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching.
• Associate or Full Professor candidates must show a sustained record of research, teaching, and service indicative of their rank.

Pay

The budgeted salary range for a 9-month service basis (paid over 12 months) is:

• Assistant Professor: $115,000 to $135,000
• Associate Professor: $135,000 to $160,000
• Full Professor: $160,000 to $220,000

The final salary will be determined based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable roles.

Schedule

This is a full-time, 9-month academic-year position (paid over 12 months) with an expected start date of August 16, 2027, though this is flexible based on the candidate’s needs. The position is based at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus.

This role is eligible for sponsorship for work authorization.
