Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Bioengineering
Job Summary
Looking for mission-aligned individuals to join my research lab in Toronto. Our group focuses on developing machine learning-based pipelines for the efficient exploration of chemical space and the discovery of anti-aging interventions, specifically targeting cellular senescence and cryoprotectant discovery. Collaborations span across The Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto, and Vector Institute, with strong ties to industry through ongoing collaborations with Genentech.
About the Role
The lab is a joint appointment between The Hospital for Sick Children, CS Department of University of Toronto, and Vector Institute. It has a strong interdisciplinary focus, combining machine learning expertise with cellular biology and chemistry.
Responsibilities
- Developing machine learning-based pipelines for chemical space exploration
- Utilizing generative models and active learning techniques
- Collaborating with experts in cellular senescence and chemistry
- Working on the synthesis of molecule candidates and parallel synthesis
- Exploring the possibility of spinning off a project from our current research
Requirements
- Strong background in machine learning
- Experience with generative models and active learning
- Interdisciplinary skills, particularly in cellular biology and chemistry
- Interest in aging research and cryoprotectant discovery
Qualifications
- PhD in Machine Learning or related field
- Experience in machine learning research and development
- Strong publication record
