About the role and organization
The College of Computing & Artificial Intelligence (CAI) is UW–Madison’s first new college in more than 40 years, uniting Computer Sciences, Statistics, and the Information School. Backed by over $400 million in philanthropic and institutional investment, CAI is expanding its faculty by 50 positions and growing its research enterprise. Faculty join at a pivotal moment, contributing to established departments while helping shape a new college housed in Morgridge Hall, a state-of-the-art facility designed for collaboration.
The Information School (iSchool) has over 100 years of research and teaching focused on public good, people, and community in relation to computing, data, and information. The iSchool has more than doubled its faculty and enrollments in the past five years, offering an Information Science undergraduate major, two professional master’s programs, and a PhD. The school welcomes scholars across all areas of Library and Information Science, especially those extending the field’s traditions to address emerging challenges at the intersection of information, people, technology, and society — including artificial intelligence, algorithmic systems, information infrastructures, and civic technologies.
