Assistant Area Accounting Lead

Responsibilities
The Assistant Area Accounting Lead reports to the local Area Accounting Lead and supports operations Area Management. This role ensures compliance with HDR policies, accounting principles, and federal standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Leadership Support: Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff in project and contract financial management.
- Monthly Responsibilities:
- Ensure PAs meet invoice deadlines and balance workloads.
- Facilitate Business Group/PA/Project Coordinator preparation for monthly watchlist meetings.
- Build and review Rolling 12/Forecast files with Area Management.
- Review OH/GL for accuracy, research variances, and escalate issues.
- Track seminars, training, conference costs, and indirect labor.
- Area Management Reporting:
- Provide reports on loaned and borrowed resources, utilization, AR, MSPL, and marketing needs.
- Build and maintain rate sheets for clients.
- Promote best practices and utilize BI tools for project financial reviews.
- Project Accounting:
- Manage PA teams, including performance reviews and timesheet approvals.
- Ensure timely project closeouts and address potential issues.
- General Accounting:
- Manage Accounts Payable, corporate credit card transactions, and cost recovery functions.
- Track Area Vehicles and TDY costs.
- Assist with procurement, timesheet approvals, and expense reports.
- Special Projects: Support Area Accounting Lead and management on ad-hoc requests.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in a closely related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience (advanced degree may offset years of experience).
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- 7+ years of experience.
- Oracle EBS/Hyperion experience.
- A/E/C industry experience.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Pay
The expected compensation range for this position in Colorado is $80,150 - $114,500, depending on skills, experience, education, and location.
