Key Responsibilities
- Lead and own key components of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Review and analyze financial statements, identifying trends, variances, and actionable insights
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring proper controls and accuracy
- Prepare and review complex journal entries and account reconciliations
- Review and approve employee expense reports for compliance and accuracy
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and detailed variance analysis
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Partner with the VP of Finance on strategic initiatives, reporting enhancements, and process improvements
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff
- Aid in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Drive continuous improvement in accounting systems, processes, and internal controls
- Provide ad-hoc analysis and reporting to support business decisions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- Experience with month-end close ownership and financial statement preparation
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact across departments
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- CPA or active progress toward CPA (preferred)
Salary Range
The expected base salary for this Chicago, Illinois, United States-based position is $70000-$100000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
