About the role
Responsible for Asset Protection activities related to the detection, apprehension, and processing of shoplifters. You will set an example of what it means to be an employee owner who makes excellent business-minded decisions aimed at controlling loss and helping the company protect profits. Assist store management in maintaining a safe environment for customers, vendors, and employees while providing a professional presence to de-escalate situations. Support internal Asset Protection staff conducting various investigations.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates professionalism and excellent judgment in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Detects, apprehends, and processes shoplifters in accordance with company policies and local laws/regulations.
- Contributes to the safe resolution of concerning situations within the store using verbal de-escalation techniques paired with professional presence.
- Prepares and submits reports involving investigations and Asset Protection (AP) matters.
- Researches and archives general liability incidents via C.C.T.V.
- Participates in internal company investigations.
- Testifies at legal and court proceedings on behalf of the company.
- Works with local, state, and government agencies regarding company matters.
- Participates in maintenance of asset protection and safety programs.
- Conducts asset protection audits.
- Detects, investigates, and reports hazardous workplace incidents and issues.
- Provides store support by promoting asset protection and safety awareness.
- Provides AP training to store staff.
- Maintains asset protection office and equipment to established standards.
- Identifies, troubleshoots, and reports issues with C.C.T.V. equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience recognizing criteria to determine what constitutes shoplifting.
- Demonstrated excellent judgment when responding to difficult situations or individuals.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a work setting.
- Experience documenting work and customer service activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Demonstrated initiative and self-direction.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Consistently provide friendly and engaging customer service to internal and external customers.
- Perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment with limited immediate supervision.
- Ability to work 10-12 hour shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Develop proficiency with WinCo’s C.C.T.V. equipment, locks, and door hardware.
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Perform all tasks efficiently and accurately with confidentiality, honesty, and integrity.
- Obtain State or Local certifications as required.
- Wear provided personal protective equipment such as gloves and protective vests.
- Travel daily within a defined geographic area to assigned locations.
- Must be at least 18 years old.

Pay
USD $19.69 - USD $29.18 /Hr.
