About the Role
In this Asset Manager / Loan Operations role, you will oversee a portfolio of real estate loans, ensuring accurate financial performance, proactive risk management, and strong borrower relationships. You will serve as a key point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders, translating financial insights into strategic decisions that support the firm's lending objectives. Your work will directly influence asset quality, portfolio returns, and the firm's reputation in the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of a portfolio of real estate loans, including monitoring performance, covenants, and compliance with loan terms.
- Review and analyse financial statements, budgets, and project reports from borrowers to assess asset health and identify emerging risks.
- Coordinate loan draws, payoffs, modifications, and extensions, ensuring accurate documentation and timely execution.
- Maintain regular, professional communication with borrowers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and reinforcing strong client relationships.
- Prepare internal reports and updates on loan and portfolio performance for senior management and investment teams.
- Collaborate with underwriting, legal, and accounting teams to support new loan closings and ongoing portfolio initiatives.
- Track and reconcile loan-related cash flows, including interest, principal, fees, and reserves, ensuring accuracy in systems and records.
- Contribute to process improvements and best practices in loan operations and asset management to support the firm's growth.
Key Requirements
- Strong accounting or finance fundamentals, with the ability to interpret and analyse financial statements and cash flows.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or lending operations.
- Polished, client-facing communication skills, with confidence interacting directly with borrowers and external partners.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness and problem-solving ability in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
- High level of ownership, reliability, and organisational skills in managing multiple loans and deadlines.
- Ambitious mindset with a desire to grow rapidly and take on increasing responsibility within the firm.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in real estate lending, particularly construction lending, commercial real estate lending, private credit, or commercial banking.
- Prior exposure to loan documentation, credit agreements, and closing processes.
- Familiarity with loan servicing systems or portfolio management tools.
- Experience working in a growth-oriented, entrepreneurial financial services or investment environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field (Accounting major preferred).
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA) or progress toward certification is advantageous but not required.
- Additional training or coursework in real estate finance, credit analysis, or lending operations is a plus.
