Job/Department Summary
The Asset and Inventory Coordinator supports the university’s asset management, inventory control, surplus property, and property accountability functions. The position provides operational, clerical, inventory, surplus, recordkeeping, and customer-service support. The position maintains accurate records for capitalized and non-capitalized property, supports physical inventory processes, tracks asset movement and custody changes, assists with property disposition and surplus reutilization, and promotes compliance with university, CSU, state, auxiliary and federal property control requirements.
About the Role
Under the general supervision of the appropriate administrator, the Asset and Inventory Coordinator assists the asset management and inventory program by providing operational, clerical, inventory, surplus, recordkeeping, and customer-service support. The position serves as a campus resource for departments regarding asset tagging, inventory procedures, property transfers, surplus processing, missing or stolen property reporting, and appropriate stewardship of university-owned equipment.
Responsibilities
- Supports the university’s asset management and inventory program by providing operational, clerical, inventory, surplus, recordkeeping, and customer-service support.
- Maintains accurate records for capitalized and non-capitalized property.
- Serves as a campus resource for departments regarding asset tagging, inventory procedures, property transfers, surplus processing, missing or stolen property reporting, and appropriate stewardship of university-owned equipment.
- Assists with property disposition and surplus reutilization.
- Promotes compliance with university, CSU, state, auxiliary and federal property control requirements.
- Maintains strong internal controls, provides responsive customer service, and uses asset management systems and related technologies to support accurate, timely, and auditable property records.
Requirements
- Three years of experience inventorying and maintaining control records for a wide variety of property and equipment or expendable storekeeping items.
- Preference may be given to applicants with experience coordinating or leading physical inventory audits or large-scale asset tracking efforts, working knowledge of asset management systems, experience with financial reconciliation, and familiarity with inventory control practices, audit processes, and internal controls.
Qualifications
- Full-time work schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM.
- Salary range: $47,808 (Step 1) - $69,648 (Step 20) per year.

- Physical requirements: The position requires standing for up to eight hours, hand sorting equipment, and lifting or moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds a distance of 10 to 15 feet on a daily basis with or without assistance.
- Driver's license and forklift certification: The position requires a valid California Driver's License and forklift certification throughout employment.
