About the role

Norda Stelo is seeking an intermediate structural engineer to join our Asset Integrity and Reliability Management Division in Salt Lake City. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the expansion of our local client base and to work closely with a small, dynamic team.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and third parties to ensure successful project delivery and build long-term professional relationships.
  • Prepare technical reports, design documents, structural repair packages, construction drawings in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Participate as the Engineer of Record on a team to carry out condition inspections and assessment works for multiple clients and facilities in the local area.
  • Provide support and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Contribute to project planning, project management, cost estimation, proposal writing, and scheduling.
  • Participate in internal technical reviews and ensure design quality and constructability.
  • Design and analyze structural systems in the bulk handling, mining, ports, and heavy industrial sectors.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Utah.
  • 10 to 15 years of structural engineering experience in industrial facilities.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mining and/or materials handling industries.
  • Strong knowledge of design codes and standards for steel and concrete structures (i.e. AISC, ACI, ASCE).
  • Knowledge or familiarity with local building codes, safety standards, and construction practices is a benefit but is not necessarily required.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with structural analysis and design software’s (i.e. RISA, SAP2000, STAAD).
  • Knowledge or familiarity of 2D and 3D drafting software (I.e. AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Proven experience in field investigations, condition assessments, and/or field reviews.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to represent the company professionally to client and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with proven technical report writing.
  • A willingness to complete short-term travel to conduct field inspections of heavy industrial equipment.
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
