Responsibilities
- Closely manage the number of carload freight cars online to ensure adequate supply is available to meet projected demand at minimum cost.
- Work with Transportation to reposition freight cars as needed to maximize car utilization.
- Cook with Sales on customer requirements for FEC equipment placed in assigned pools.
- Maintain equipment out of service and work with Mechanical to develop plans to ensure needed equipment is returned to service in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with Network Operations to ensure train plans provide sufficient capacity to minimize dwell in yards and at customer locations.
- Collaborate with team of Fleet Coordinators to ensure conveying cars and intermodal equipment are distributed efficiently across the network to meet projected demand levels.
- Collaborate with Chassis Coordinator position to ensure the utilization of the FEC and private chassis inventory in FEC’s Ft Lauderdale and Hialeah terminals is maximized.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3 years of Railroad or Trucking Industry Experience
- Strong knowledge of Railroad and Terminal Operations
- Business knowledge of Intermodal Terminal Operations and Trucking Operations
- Working knowledge of the following systems and technologies: GE’s Transportation Management System, RMI’s Oasis Terminal Operation System, SAS, Query, Microsoft Products, including Word, Excel
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work as a team player
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
- Excellent writing, oral, and presentation skills
- Requires the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
- Analytical skills
