About the role

Inspect and assemble finished and semi-finished products using sub-assemblies and components in compliance with engineering drawings, customer, and company specifications. Approve finished goods within specifications prior to packaging and shipment to customers.

Responsibilities

• Read engineering drawings and specifications, understanding standard notes, symbols, and instructions related to the work.
• Perform inspection checks using tools such as:
  • Micrometers
  • Air Columns
  • Thread Gauges
  • Surface Contour measurement
  • Contact Gauges
  • CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine)
  • Torque Testers
  • Pin Indicators
  • Plug Gauges
  • Dial Indicators
  • Form Measurement
  • Vernier Calipers
  • Other standard inspection equipment
• Make acceptance or rejection decisions based on specified tolerances.
• Conduct visual inspections for surface finish, nicks, burrs, stains, and broken edges, and make acceptance or rejection decisions based on findings.
• Move and position parts, containers, gauges, or other equipment required for inspection or assembly operations.
• Meet quality and quantity requirements.
• Collect and record data on company-supplied documents, forms, or computer transactions (e.g., job transactions, data sheets, setup sheets) to support proper record-keeping.
• Accurately complete all associated documents and records required in inspection and assembly procedures.
• Maintain open communication with supervisors and co-workers to share significant information supporting production efforts.
• Assist in training and developing new employees.
• Match races and load balls, rollers, or other components to obtain specified diametrical clearance or metal-to-metal fit.
• Perform etching for proper identification and mark indicated measurements as needed.
• Install seals and shields as required.
• Grease bearings and bearing assemblies as necessary.
• Package products per SKF and customer specifications.
• Maintain acceptable eyesight as defined by customer/Kaydon specifications.
• Participate in continuous improvement (lean) activities as assigned or required.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, identifying unsafe conditions.
• Wear steel-toed shoes and ANSI-approved safety glasses with side shields at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
• Interact professionally with customers and visitors, escalating issues as needed.
• Communicate and collaborate with others to drive efficiency and problem-solve.
• Meet performance metrics and provide ideas for process improvement opportunities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Prior manufacturing or assembly experience preferred but not required.
• Solid understanding and ability to use shop math and precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, precision dial gauges).
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.

Pay

Hourly salary range: $19.00 to $26.00.
