About the Role

Assembly Technicians will assemble composite parts for the aerospace, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and other product line industries developed at our facility. The role involves assembling or repairing composite parts using adhesives and hand tools while following engineering drawings and specifications. The Assembly Technician ensures parts are properly aligned, assembled, and meet quality standards, playing a crucial role in the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble finished composite components using various techniques.
  • Proficiently use hand and power tools.
  • Bond small and/or intricate parts to composite components.
  • Apply sealants and gaskets to composite assemblies.
  • Interpret technical drawings and diagrams to understand assembly requirements.
  • Inspect components and finished products for defects, ensuring quality control throughout the assembly process.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Collaborate with department leads and engineers to resolve technical issues during assembly.
  • Keep a clean and organized workspace.
  • Propose and advise on continuous improvement of assembly processes.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and ability to manipulate small parts and tools.
  • Troubleshooting skills to resolve issues during assembly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to take direction and work with minimal oversight.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years of experience with composite materials and bonding processes preferred.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and ERP/accounting software experience required.

Working Conditions

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is often required to sit, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.

Equipment Operated: Special hand tools, production ovens, ladders, and mechanical stands.

Work Location: Open shop environment.

Protective Equipment Required: Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, and respirators.
