Assembly Lead - 2nd Shift

About the Role

This leadership position ensures smooth assembly operations and efficient equipment performance within the plant. The role involves operating and maintaining plant equipment according to standard work and building procedures while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Assign, monitor, and delegate tasks across the value stream, supporting job rotations.
• Ensure Team Improvement boards, Day by Hour boards, and other tracking tools are updated hourly/daily.
• Maintain productivity by addressing operator questions, clarifying work assignments, and keeping teams on track.
• Serve as a liaison between the Value Stream Team Leader and leadership on work assignments and projects.
• Lead Kaizen and other problem-solving events regularly.
• Actively participate in the layered audit process, conducting daily audits.
• Ensure all team members perform and document quality checks per department procedures.
• Delegate work assignments, maintain kiosk boards, and report on value stream activities.
• Fill in for operators during meetings or absences by performing jobs within the value stream.
• Cross-train in multiple areas to create flexibility and deepen understanding.
• Accountable for value stream metrics, including Safety, Quality, LISC, Scrap, and Units per Labor Hour.
• Oversee training, including developing and maintaining team members’ Skills Matrix.
• Facilitate weekly team meetings and lead Safety Toolbox talks.
• Work safely in compliance with regulations, standards, and procedures, eliminating health and environmental risks.
• Report unsafe conditions, unlawful activities, or risks to leadership immediately.
• Participate in peer-based teams (e.g., Natural High Performance Teams) and support Lean Manufacturing and 5-S initiatives.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED (additional education preferred).
• Previous manufacturing assembly experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to present information effectively in group settings.
• Strong decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in math, reading, and writing.
• Ability to maintain continuous mental, visual, and audio attention.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills (e.g., CAR/PAR/8D).
