About the role

We are seeking Assembler/Packers to join our team and help drive our continued success. This role plays an important part in supporting our customers, strengthening our business, and contributing to the long-term growth of Douglas Dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of bench and structural assembly, boxing and bagging operations of parts, components, and assemblies for the company’s snowplow and Ice Control products lines and accessories.
  • Set up and operate machinery and equipment such as assembly and packaging, unloading parts from a powered conveyor, bagging machines, strapper, and assorted power and hand tools.
  • Actively participate in team and total quality commitment activities.
  • Perform designated maintenance functions; assume ownership for quality of all products.
  • Participate in training and 5-S activities.
  • Follow job instructions (JIs), standards, regulations, procedures, and quality checks to ensure compliance, product quality, and scrap reduction.
  • Assemble products in paced conveyor and non-paced environments.
  • Set up and operate machinery and equipment including assembly and packaging machines, powered conveyors, bagging machines, strapper, and assorted power/hand tools.
  • Unload, move, and handle parts/components using conveyors and material handling equipment.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and support 5S workplace organization practices.
  • Meet production plans and standards (produce to takt) while controlling costs.
  • Report assembly, packaging, equipment or unusual workplace issues to the BU lead or supervisor.
  • Participate in training, continuous improvement, and team-based problem solving.
  • Work collaboratively and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic lean concepts.
  • Prior background in a manufacturing setting.
  • Product knowledge.
  • Organizational and research skills.
  • Ability to report daily production.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Able to focus on multiple priorities and work a flexible schedule as needed.
  • Able to stand and walk.
  • Able to reach above shoulders and outward.
  • Able to bend, squat and crawl.
  • Able to work in both hold and cold temperatures.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
