Assembler I, 1st Shift

About the role

The Assembler works according to takt time on a moving line or bench, performing finish assembly processes to mass-produce commercial aircraft composite products. This is a Level I Entry/Junior level individual contributor, semi-skilled worker who operates machines, factory-related processing equipment, or vehicles.

Responsibilities

Essential functions include performing tasks as required to assemble parts and complete other production duties. Specific tasks include:

• Following job traveler instructions to assemble parts using small hand tools, bonding adhesives and assembly jigs.
• Hand wrapping insulation blankets, using utility knives, foam insulation, and insulation tape.
• Performing light sanding and abrading of composite, plastic, and some metal components.
• May perform some light riveting using rivet squeezes and pop rivet guns.

Requirements

Required qualifications include fine hand motor skills, strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and basic math skills. Preferred qualifications include understanding of process specifications and one year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

A High School Diploma/GED is preferred. One year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities in a manufacturing environment is also preferred. Computer skills include understanding of technology with the ability to learn new platforms and systems.

Working Conditions

While performing typical duties of this job, production employees will experience various conditions, including working indoors in non-temperature-controlled sites, exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, hazardous equipment, and contaminants. Shared workspaces with other employees are common, and employees may be required to handle objects of up to 50 lbs, lift, push, pull, and bend, and stand and/or walk for 8 to 12 or more hours per day.
