Asphalt QC Technician
Martin Marietta is seeking Asphalt Quality Control Technicians to work at our various asphalt plants, primarily based out of Becker, MN. This position offers hands-on work and outdoor opportunities. While experience is preferred, we are willing to train motivated candidates.
Responsibilities
- Sampling and testing of asphalt mixtures and aggregate products.
- Analyzing test data, recording, and reporting results.
- Calibrating, cleaning, and maintaining production tools and testing equipment.
- Ensuring materials remain within specification.

Work Environment
This position operates 80% of the time in a laboratory environment and 20% outdoors. Travel to multiple sites is required, with potential exposure to all weather conditions, dust, sand, gravel, and diesel exhaust.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl.
- Must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Schedule
This is a full-time seasonal position requiring long hours, often exceeding 40+ hours per week. Night and weekend work is possible, with overtime and night shift differentials applied.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong computer and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel to various plant locations daily.
- Desire for hands-on work in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- MNDOT Aggregate Production Certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- MNDOT Bituminous Plant 1 Certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
Pay
The hiring range for this position is $26.50–$32.45 per hour, exclusive of benefits or bonuses. Base compensation is determined by factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, skills, education, and experience.
