About the role

The candidate will be responsible for all ground operations at our Asphalt Plants, including greasing equipment, general labor, equipment operation, and routine maintenance. This position reports to the Asphalt Plant Foreman.

Responsibilities

Perform minor servicing and maintenance on plant equipment, including accessing platforms and landings using ladders
Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment such as bobcat, skid steer, man lift, water truck, and haul truck; report any problems to your manager
Maintain constant eye contact and use hand signals when backing or communicating with co-workers
Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures
Follow directions from the Foreman regarding daily tasks and project expectations
Conduct daily pre- and post-inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies
Assist in training less-experienced employees on proper equipment operations, servicing, and repair
Support the plant foreman with daily operations and upkeep of the plant
Perform welding and fabrication duties as required
Access all areas of the plant to perform necessary maintenance and repairs
Identify safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly
Perform manual tasks safely, such as shoveling, sweeping, and jackhammer operation
Maintain a professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, and the public
Travel and work away from home when required
Work nights and weekends as necessary
Report to work at the designated start time and work overtime when required
Work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook
Collaborate in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as needed
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as required by OSHA/MSHA
Work at heights up to approximately 50 feet
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical
Provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration form
Be at least 18 years of age due to the nature of the working environment
Hold a minimum of a high school diploma or GED
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Previous experience in asphalt operations and/or training is a plus
