Asphalt-Paving Crew Member

About the role

Rogers Group is seeking Asphalt and Milling Crew members for operations in the Tuscumbia, AL/West Alabama area, reporting to the Paving Superintendent. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work safely and provide quality support.

Wages start at $22 per hour; starting wage may be higher with verifiable asphalt experience. This is a full-time, permanent position with day shift hours. Weekend work and night shift operations may be required, and overtime is available.

Responsibilities

• Perform general asphalt labor as directed by the working foreman and superintendent
• Use hand tools such as shovel and lute/rake
• Assist with traffic control as needed
• Operate equipment with a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency in challenging and unique terrain environments
• Perform servicing and maintenance of equipment as trained and directed by management
• Conduct daily pre- and post-inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies
• Maintain effective communication skills applicable to the position
• Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA/Environmental regulations for safe working procedures and environment
• Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the Supervisor
• Perform general labor duties when necessary, and other duties as assigned

Requirements

• An uncompromising focus on safety excellence
• A minimum of 1-2 years of asphalt paving experience
• 1 year of asphalt lute/rake experience preferred
• Experience working with road construction in high traffic areas, including some experience with MUTCD traffic control
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move heavy objects
• Ability to work outdoors, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
• Ability to safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in road, site, or highway construction and paving
• Valid driver’s license is required
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as necessary

Pay
