ASL Technology Research Internship – ASL Linguistics (6 months)

Job Summary

We are seeking an intern with ASL linguistics knowledge and a technical background to join our generation team for a 6-month internship. The intern will work on glossing and annotating ASL Classifier (CL) video data to support our English-to-Gloss translation model and avatar signing pipeline.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Work on annotation schema design
• High-level feature labeling
• Minimal pair analysis
• Helping design evaluations (such as A/B testing) for CL outputs
• Design a CL inventory to be added to our dictionary
• Create a demo at the end of the internship

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel Requirements

Less than 25%

Education

• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
• Minimum: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

• Background in linguistics, CS, data science, or a combination
• Familiarity with ASL classifier systems is a plus
• Interest in sign language generation technology
• Comfortable with video annotation tools and/or basic data analysis
