Job Summary
We are seeking an intern with ASL linguistics knowledge and a technical background to join our generation team for a 6-month internship. The intern will work on glossing and annotating ASL Classifier (CL) video data to support our English-to-Gloss translation model and avatar signing pipeline.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Work on annotation schema design
- High-level feature labeling
- Minimal pair analysis
- Helping design evaluations (such as A/B testing) for CL outputs
- Design a CL inventory to be added to our dictionary
- Create a demo at the end of the internship
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Travel Requirements
Less than 25%
Education
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Background in linguistics, CS, data science, or a combination
- Familiarity with ASL classifier systems is a plus
- Interest in sign language generation technology
- Comfortable with video annotation tools and/or basic data analysis
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Oral and written communication skills
- Attentiveness
- Ability to understand and follow directions
