About the role

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking a research intern for Fall 2026. This position is located at the Applied System Laboratory (ASL) and supports GTRI’s mission to solve complex problems for the U.S. federal government, state, and industry.

Responsibilities

  • Provide desktop IT support as a computer support representative (CSR)
  • Maintain hardware and software for client/server infrastructure
  • Author scripts for patching and hardening compliance
  • Conduct manual and automated security reviews to remediate findings
  • Support events in conference rooms requiring CSR assistance

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or Cybersecurity
  • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Part-Time Intern – Must be registered for 6+ credit hours
  • Able to work within a team environment
  • Flexibility and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • A great attitude and desire for learning new techniques or skills
  • Experience in 1 or more scripting languages
  • Previous work experience providing IT support
  • Familiarity with macOS, Windows, Linux, and open-source tools
  • Holds technical certifications (Security+, CEH, CISSP, RHCSA, etc)
  • Experience in 1 or more programming languages
  • Able to clearly communicate technical ideas

Qualifications

  • Due to research contracts with the US federal government, candidates must be US Citizens.
  • Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
