AS5/SOX Business Analyst

This position requires a regular on-site presence and does not sponsor any type of employment visas. Applications will be accepted through August 29, 2026. The role is posted at two levels: Business Analyst II and Business Analyst III.

About the role

The AS 5 business analyst partners with business lines to assess the design of internal controls and complete key control testing on behalf of division management. The team works with Bank management to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and facilitates the AS 5 COSO/SOX program.

Responsibilities

• Participate in projects and perform intermediate analytical tasks supporting Department, Bank, Federal Reserve System (FRS), and/or federal agency initiatives.
• Join project teams and work groups at the Department, Bank, FRS, or federal agency level.
• Complete special assignments, studies, and analyses.
• Analyze business functions and operational process improvements or enhancements.
• Test, train, and implement solutions, including coordinating activities such as developing plans, completing risk assessments, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and preparing communications.
• Provide intermediate analytic support to Department liaisons for resolving moderately complex operational and business issues; escalate difficult questions or problems to other analysts or management.
• Assist in preparing and revising communications, including proposals, reports, and presentations for all levels of management.
• Develop and revise procedures, define processes, and deliver training to users and staff.
• Monitor and verify compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and standards.
• Provide training to less experienced analytical staff.

AS5 Responsibilities

• Understand division processes, risks, and internal controls.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of ICFR by conducting testing of department-identified internal key controls.
• Follow Federal Reserve System and Ninth District AS 5 guidance on testing and documenting work.
• Prepare and submit testing workpapers for approval while meeting key deadlines in the AS 5 testing cycle.
• Assist or lead in preparing reports, developing presentations, and providing training.
• Interact with various levels of department staff and management as appropriate.

Requirements

Business Analyst II

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years of analytical and/or project management experience, including experience assessing internal controls. An equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.
• Some experience communicating and presenting recommendations to various business lines and multiple levels of staff.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet Explorer.

Business Analyst III

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years of analytical and/or project management experience, including experience assessing internal controls. An equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.
• Experience communicating and presenting recommendations to various business lines and multiple levels of staff.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet Explorer.
• Certification desirable (e.g., CPA, CIA, or CISA).

Preferred Qualifications (Both Levels)

• Coursework in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Expected at Both Levels

• Strong critical thinking, able to voice perspectives appropriately while supporting final decisions with professionalism and commitment.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent team player with the ability to work independently.

Pay

Salary ranges for the job profiles:

• Business Analyst II: $67,900 – $84,892 – $101,900 (expected starting range: $68,000 – $84,892).
• Business Analyst III: $82,100 – $102,675 – $123,200 (expected starting range: $82,100 – $102,675).

Salary offer will be based on qualifications, experience, alignment with market data, position needs, total compensation package, and internal equity.
