Artist Services Manager serves as the liaison and logistics coordinator for vendors/artists involved with three artist markets and four exhibitions annually, as well as managing and maintaining the retail Shop. This role provides administrative support as the main point of contact for all artists/vendors in events, exhibitions, and artists represented by the Shop. The position involves installing and de-installing artwork, maintaining Shop inventory, and working closely with the Executive Director to present high-quality exhibitions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general support services for artists and vendors and act as the liaison between participants, staff, and the Executive Director.
  • Manage and maintain a high-quality retail Shop that supports and represents local artists.
  • Enter inventory in the POS Square system.
  • Communicate directly with front desk staff to coordinate pickup and drop-off of artworks.
  • Be available before, during, and/or after events for setup and breakdown of chairs, tables, and temporary structures (may include evenings and/or weekends).
  • Notify and communicate with all vendors/artists regarding confirmations or rejections for events or exhibitions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure participating artists and vendors adhere to schedules for dropping off artwork, setting up for events, and picking up artwork.
  • Participate in panel selection with the creative team for the jury process of specific events.
  • Install and de-install artwork included in exhibitions.
  • Repair and patch gallery walls as needed between exhibitions.
  • Be an engaged member of the creative team, participating in Monday morning meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2 years of experience in a similar or related field.
  • Interest in art, artistic practice, or artist opportunities.
  • Experience with a POS system (Square preferred).
  • Gallery experience or experience exhibiting artwork is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a retail setting is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly organized, dependable, and responsible.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to customer service.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Physical Demands

  • Use of a computer with keyboard, telephone, or handheld mobile device for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of up to 50 pounds.
  • Use of basic hand tools and/or power tools for specific projects.

Schedule

This position works 40 hours per week, with one day fully remote unless attendance is required for an opening or market. Evening and weekend work may be required for events.

Pay

$42,000 – $45,000 per year.
