About the role
This position assesses, plans, evaluates, and implements art therapy treatment for children and adolescents with emotional disabilities, including court-involved youth. It involves coordinating students' treatment in conjunction with overall individual treatment plans and may provide guidance and direction to students and volunteers assigned to the art therapy program. This position performs the full range of duties and responsibilities under general supervision.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, evaluate, and implement art therapy treatment for children and adolescents with emotional disabilities.
- Coordinate students' treatment in alignment with individual treatment plans.
- Provide guidance and direction to students and volunteers in the art therapy program.
Requirements
- Licensed by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Graduate Professional Art Therapist (LGPAT).
- Education and experience as determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists for Licensed Graduate Professional Art Therapist (LGPAT).
- Subject to call-in and must provide a telephone number for contact.
Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications
- Licensed Graduate Professional Art Therapist (LGPAT) by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.
- May require a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in the State of Maryland if assigned duties involving operation of a motor vehicle.
- May require current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- If assigned to facilities with a swimming pool, may require Red Cross instruction and certification in Life Saving and Water Safety prior to permanent appointment.
