Art Therapist

About the role

An experienced Board Certified Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) will join the behavioral health team to provide art therapy and evidence-based interventions such as CBT, TF-CBT, and DBT.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments, develop and implement treatment plans with client input.
• Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions, including therapeutic art activities.
• Evaluate client progress, document treatment in electronic health records, and coordinate care with the treatment team.
• Provide community resource information and assist clients in accessing support services.
• Participate in professional development, supervision, and quality improvement activities.
• Meet agency metrics and participate in peer review processes.

Authorities

• Develop and oversee client treatment plans, collaborate with medical and treatment staff.
• Determine engagement strategies and recommend changes in care levels or referrals.
• Maintain confidentiality, share client information with consent, and adhere to mandated reporting duties.

Qualifications

• Master's in Art Therapy from an AATA-accredited program.
• ATR-BC certification and Connecticut LPC licensure.
• Experience working with trauma-affected underserved children, adolescents, and families preferred.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed and client-centered care principles.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills; proficient in electronic health records.
