Armed Protective Security Officers (PSO) - Charleston, SC

Responsibilities

• Patrol and monitor exterior and community areas on premises.
• Control access of entrances and exits and departure of employees and visitors.
• Monitor surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activities.
• Provide detailed reports on daily activities and/or incidents.
• Use magnetometer and X-ray machines effectively.
• Communicate clearly and concisely using two-way radios.
• Demonstrate excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation.
• Perform CPR or first aid when needed.
• Ensure credentials are maintained per contract requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Project Manager.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Be a United States citizen; or a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces.
• Have been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individual’s name and social security number.
• Meet one of the following experience and education combinations:
  • A minimum of two (2) years of armed security experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a full-service police department in a municipality, state, or federal law enforcement department within the US.
  • A minimum of two (2) years as a member of any US Armed Forces with an honorable discharge.
• Have received, at minimum, either a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Fluently speak, read, comprehend, and write English.
• Possess strong relevant knowledge of the security industry.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Have a customer service-driven mindset.
• Be able to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customers.
• Be trainable and able to display proficiency in firearms (pistol), intermediate weapons (OC spray and expandable baton), and First Aid, CPR, AED.

Physical Demands

• Physically able to perform tasks required for assigned duties.
• Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to twelve (12) hours per day, either indoors or outdoors.
• Ability to remain on post up to four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or receiving a break.
• Ability to remain alert for up to 12 hours, with the ability to mentally and physically react quickly to a variety of unexpected and dangerous situations.

Certification Requirements

• CPR/First Aid Basic Training.
• Exhibits 72/64 hours Handcuffing Tactics and Instruction.
• OC aerosol spray MEB.
• Expandable Baton Initials Weapon Training.
• DHS Suitability.
• National Weapons Detection Training Program.
