Job Summary
Protect the principal against possible threats in federal buildings. Responsibilities include access control, monitoring security equipment, and providing detailed reports.
Responsibilities
- Conduct federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks, and security equipment monitoring.
- Monitor surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activities.
- Provide detailed reports on daily activities and incidents.
- Use magnetometer and X-ray machines effectively.
- Communicate using two-way radios in a clear and concise manner.
- Leverage excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures.
- Perform CPR or first aid when needed.
- Ensure credentials are maintained according to contract requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Project Manager.
Requirements
- At least 21 years old.
- Able to obtain suitability and/or clearance.
- A United States citizen; or a Lawful Permanent Resident with an honorable discharge from the US Armed Forces.
- A minimum of two (2) years of security (armed) experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience.
- A minimum of two (2) years as a member of the US Armed Forces with an honorable discharge.
- Fluent in English, able to speak, read, and write in English.
- Able to qualify with a revolver or semi-automatic firearm.
- Strong knowledge of the security industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A customer service-driven mindset.
- Physically able to perform tasks including frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping for up to 12 hours per day.
- Able to remain alert and alert for up to 12 hours, with quick mental and physical reactions.
- Able to subdue violent or potentially violent individuals or intervene in crises.
Physical Demands
- Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping.
- Contact with general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center.
- Ability to remain on post up to four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or receiving a break.
- Ability to remain alert for up to 12 hours, with quick mental and physical reactions.
- Able to subdue violent or potentially violent individuals or intervene in crises.
Education Requirements
- CPR/American Red Cross Certification.
- High School Diploma/GED Certification.
- CPR/First Aid.
- NWDTP Training.
- All Required PSO Training and Certificates.
- O.C. aerosol spray CPR/American Red Cross Certification.
- 16 Hour X-Ray and Magnetometer Basic Training.
- Exhibits 72/64 hours Firearms Qualification.
- Handcuffing Tactics and Instruction.
- Initials Weapon Training.
- DHS Letter of Suitability.
