Job Summary
Protect the principal against possible threats in federal buildings. Responsibilities include access control, monitoring security equipment, patrolling, and reporting incidents.
Responsibilities
- Conduct federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks, and security equipment monitoring.
- Monitor surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activities and provide detailed reports.
- Use magnetometer and X-ray machines as required.
- Communicate using two-way radios in a clear and concise manner.
- Leverage excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures.
- Perform CPR or first aid when needed.
- Maintain credentials according to contract requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and project manager.
Requirements
- At least 21 years old.
- Able to obtain suitability and/or clearance.
- A United States citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident with an honorable discharge from the US Armed Forces.
- A minimum of two years of security (armed) experience or one year of law enforcement experience.
- A minimum of two years as a member of the US Armed Forces with an honorable discharge.
- Fluent in English, able to speak, read, and write clearly, and compose written reports.
- Able to qualify with a revolver or semi-automatic firearm.
- Strong knowledge of the security industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A customer service-driven mindset.
- Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping for up to 12 hours per day.
- Ability to remain alert for up to 12 hours without breaks.
- Ability to communicate clearly and calmly in stressful situations.
- Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent individuals or intervene in crises.
- High school diploma or GED.
- CPR/American Red Cross Certification.
- X-Ray and Magnetometer Basic Training.
- Firearms Qualification.
- Initials Weapon Training.
- DHS Letter of Suitability.
- MEB Expandable Baton.
- FPS Orientation Certificate.
- DHS Suitability.
Physical Demands
- Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping.
- Frequent contact with the general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center.
- Ability to remain on post up to four consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or receiving a break.
- Ability to remain alert for up to 12 hours.
- Ability to mentally and physically react quickly to unexpected and dangerous situations.
- Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent individuals or intervene in crises.
Education Requirements
- CPR/American Red Cross Certification.
