Responsibilities
- Protect the principal against possible threats
- Federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks
- Monitor security equipment and conduct roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal property
- Monitor surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activities
- Provide detailed reports on daily activities and/or incidents
- Effectively use magnetometer and X-ray machines
- Use communication devices such as two-way radios clearly and concisely
- Leverage listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures
- Perform CPR or first aid when needed
- Ensure credentials are maintained per contract requirements
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Project Manager
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to obtain suitability and/or clearance
- Must be a United States citizen; or a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard)
- Must have been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individual’s name and social security number
- A minimum of two (2) years of armed security experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a full-service police department in a municipality, state, or federal law enforcement department within the US
- A minimum of two (2) years as a member of any US Armed Forces with an honorable discharge
- Must be able to fluently speak, read, comprehend English, and compose written reports in English
- Must be able to qualify with a revolver or semi-automatic
- Must possess strong relevant knowledge of the security industry
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have a customer service-driven mindset
- Ability to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customers
Physical Demands
- Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per day, either indoors or outdoors
- Frequent contact with the general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center, requiring clear and distinct speech and calmness in stressful situations
- Ability to remain on post up to four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or receiving a break
- Ability to remain alert for up to 12 hours, with the ability to mentally and physically react quickly to unexpected and dangerous situations
- Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent individuals or intervene in a crisis
- Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Tri-Annual Refresher
- Exhibit M.E.B. Training
- All Required PSO Training and Certifications
- CPR/American Red Cross Certification
- 16 Hour X-Ray and Magnetometer Training
- Firearms Qualification
- Handcuffing Tactics and Instruction
- O.C. aerosol spray certification
- MEB Expandable Baton certification
- DHS Letter of Suitability
- Initial Weapon Training
- FPS Orientation Certificate
- DHS Suitability
- National Weapons Detection Training Program certification
