About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing general operations and supervision during the Manager on Duty shift. Key responsibilities include ensuring a safe and secure shopping environment, customer service, merchandise management, loss prevention, and front-end operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment by immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices.
- Manage customer service, treating all customers, associates, and leaders with respect and professionalism.
- Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
- Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed, including security checks, cash office security, and handling non-merchandise deliveries.
- Manage loss prevention efforts, conducting "Code 50" package inspections and adhering to the Loss Prevention Awareness Program.
- Supervise the front-end operations, ensuring associates execute to company standards and manage the line to expedite customer wait time.
- Train and coach associates on cash register procedures, shortage control policies, and other front-end operations.
- Manage administrative duties such as cash pulls, bank deposits, and payroll administration.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
