Area Supervisor

About the role

The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team at Ross, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store when acting as the Manager on Duty.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment by understanding and practicing safe behaviors, immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
• Ensure the security of the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device daily function check, Cash Office security, armored carrier pick-ups, and register area.
• Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
• Respond to customer safety needs, including accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures. Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after-hours alarms when requested.
• Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
• Represent and support the Company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.
• Ensure all areas of the store are clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard, removing daily trash and helping deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor.
• Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed, including loss prevention, front end supervision and operations, fitting rooms, and administrative duties.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Fluency in English.
• Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
