About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store. Key responsibilities include ensuring a safe and secure shopping environment, customer service, merchandise management, loss prevention, and front-end supervision.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
- Manage the store's security, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, armored carrier pickups, and register area.
- Ensure customer safety by preventing accidents, reporting incidents, and following emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after-hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all associates adhere to the company dress code.
- Manage merchandise recovery, sizing, and markdowns to company standards, process all merchandise with urgency, and ensure cleanliness and organization of stockrooms.
- Execute Company Best Practices to maximize productivity, minimize steps and touches, and manage the front-end area efficiently.
- Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front-end procedures.
- Ensure associates execute to company standards, manage the line to expedite customer wait time, and control retail associates' break schedules.
- Manage administrative duties such as cash pulls, bank deposits, and payroll administration.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
