About the Role

Join Ross, a leading off-price retail chain with over 2,200 stores and a strong track record of success and growth. As an Area Supervisor, you will be a key member of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific assigned area of the store and general operations when functioning as the Manager on Duty. This role focuses on maintaining a safe, friendly, and easy-to-shop environment while ensuring proper merchandise presentation and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
    • Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors on the sales floor.
    • Correct or report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
    • Ensure security of the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, Cash Office security, and register area monitoring.
    • Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
    • Respond to after-hours alarms and test fire alarm systems as scheduled.
  • Customer Service:
    • Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect, courtesy, and professionalism.
    • Recognize Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Personal and Store Brand:
    • Maintain a professional appearance according to the Company Dress Code.
    • Ensure all Associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.
    • Keep all areas of the Store clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
    • Responsible for daily trash removal.
  • General Merchandising:
    • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards.
    • Process merchandise with a sense of urgency and handle non-merchandise inbound deliveries (e.g., signs, supplies).
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all Stockrooms.
    • Deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor.
    • Secure and process back-stock according to Company policy.
    • Reduce loss due to damage and ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines.
    • Handle floor moves, signing, promotional signing, and re-wraps as needed.
  • Loss Prevention:
    • Comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a strong Customer service presence on the sales floor.
    • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions.
    • Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
    • Maintain the Public View Monitor (PVM) system and conduct "code" package inspections.
  • Front End Supervision and Operations:
    • Execute Company Best Practices to maximize productivity.
    • Ensure Associates adhere to Company standards at the Front End.
    • Maintain pace, energy, and "presence" to manage Customer wait times.
    • Train and coach Associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other Front End procedures.
    • Control Retail Associates' break schedules.
    • Ensure all equipment is working properly and maintain proper supplies and recovery for the Front End area.
    • Expedite go-backs, ensuring they are scanned, security tagged, and ticketed.
    • Teach Associates the "Scan and Bag" best practice.
    • Maintain salability of merchandise on the Front End and specialty racks.
  • Fitting Rooms:
    • Maintain cleanliness of the Fitting Rooms.
    • Audit and account for all Fitting Room garment tags according to Company policy.
    • Ensure go-back compliance throughout the day.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Conduct cash pulls and bank deposits according to Company policy.
    • Oversee Front End control, including refund approval, Associate purchase approval, securing tills, and void approval.
    • Administer payroll, including daily punch edits, scheduling compliance, and payroll reporting.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior Customer Service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
  • Ability to regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • For Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 lbs.

Pay

The base pay range for this role is $18.40 - $18.90 per hour, dependent on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location.
