About the role

The Area Sales Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the Northern California Agriculture Product Segment of Georgia Pacific Corrugated. Reporting to the Area General Manager, this role is critical to driving continuous transformation and creating value for the customer base through preferred partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the commercial sales team, including recruitment, retention, and ongoing professional development.
  • Build mutually beneficial partnerships between sales and operations, collaborating with various business capabilities such as Business Analytics, Revenue Management, Supply Chain, Marketing, Salesforce Effectiveness, S&OP, etc.
  • Bring expertise in the Northern California agriculture market to support the sales team and customers, continuously improving profit margins and driving innovation.
  • Create and implement market sales strategies and pricing that align with a customer-focused vision.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, fostering customer success through the adoption of sales training processes.
  • Hold the sales team accountable for a robust pipeline aligned with regional needs.
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to applicable governmental regulations, Georgia-Pacific standards, and site practices.
  • Utilize Microsoft 365 applications and CRM software (Microsoft Dynamics).

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of outside B2B sales experience in packaging, corrugated, or a related field.
  • Experience in mentoring or leading a sales team and motivating them to achieve sales targets.
  • Experience developing and implementing sales strategies and plans.
  • Business and financial acumen, particularly in analysis, pricing, forecasting, market trends, and budgeting.

Qualifications

  • Experience in corrugated packaging sales in the agriculture or produce markets in California.
  • Knowledge of the packaging sector, manufacturing processes, and design.
  • Proven experience as a sales manager or in a similar role.
  • Experience with P&L analysis.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in any field with preference in business, marketing, finance, management, or related field.
  • Completion of a formal sales training program or demonstrated experience with leading teams in a successful sales process.

Skills

Preferred qualifications include:

Benefits

This role is eligible for a salary range of $170,000 - $200,000 per year, plus variable pay. Specific details are subject to the Summary Plan Description, policy, or guideline and may vary by geographic region. For more information, please refer to the benefits section of the job posting.
