Area Manager- Physical Therapist
About the role
The Area Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards, managing budgets and resources, supervising staff, and maintaining quality patient care. They collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure effective delivery of rehabilitation services and serve as a representative for community outreach and marketing initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Ensures timely conversion of referrals to admissions and facilitates an effective patient admission process to achieve or exceed all admission goals.
- Develops and maintains working knowledge of third-party payers, both government and commercial, for admissions.
- Communicates established financial/billing procedures to patients, including proper verification of benefits information prior to their admission and manages productivity and efficiency to meet financial and clinical goals.
- Provides leadership, accountability, and guidance in handling challenging client cases and employee concerns.
- Based on business needs, leads local recruitment, hiring, and development of clinical and administrative staff to ensure the delivery of safe and consistent quality care to all patients.
- Conducts chart audits to ensure that all federal and state law requirements and conditions of participation for Medicare and Medicaid are met.
- Gathers data for assigned area(s) and prepares written reports. Uses the collected data to identify areas of concern and implement quality improvement plans to address the concerns.
- Responds in writing or verbally to client or community concerns, audit requests, and/or contract complaints regarding quality of services and programs and uses the information to make service improvements.
- Works closely with the Administrative Support to ensure a positive and efficient work environment exists between the support staff and branch managers.
- Establishes relationships and serves as the primary area contact person for case management and contract monitoring personnel assigned to the local area Agency on Aging, DSHS Home and Community Services, health care providers, and the Dept. of Health.
- Attends and participates in area meetings, case staffing, and addresses local contract concerns as needed.
- Represents the company publicly at professional and community group meetings.
- Prepares written and oral reports regarding program area supervised.
- Works closely with the Regional Vice President or designee to ensure assigned locations are operating effectively.
Qualifications
- Minimum of Associates Degree Required, Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy preferred from a college or university with accredited Physical Therapy program and maintains current, unrestricited license as a Physical Therapoist by state in which practicing.
- A minimum of three (3) years' work experience in a therapy or rehab environment. Experience working in an outpatient rehab facility preferred.
Education/Experience
- Demonstrates knowledge of rehabilitation techniques related to complex neurological injury required.
- Communicates effectively and professionally in verbal and written interactions.
- Demonstrates strong organization skills and attention to detail.
