Area Manager - NY Metro
About the role
The Area Manager at Equity Residential is responsible for overseeing the operations of multiple residential properties. Reporting to the Area Vice President, this role involves leading and managing a team of property managers, ensuring compliance with EQR policies, and driving business results.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the operations of approximately six to nine properties, adhering to EQR policies, procedures, and programs
- Hire, train, coach, and manage staff, including Regional Maintenance Directors, Regional Support, and Administrative Assistants
- Monitor and review financial statements and property metrics to assess performance and drive business results
- Lead and be accountable for the portfolio's business outcomes, focusing on customer service, employee performance, and corporate initiatives
- Maximize the potential of real estate and property personnel, including oversight of financial performance, resident satisfaction, employee recruitment, retention, engagement, and performance management
- Implement company-wide initiatives by marshaling resources and communicating the "why" to lead change and deliver results
- Oversee maintenance and leasing activities, conduct property visits, and interact with residents to resolve escalated customer service issues
Requirements
- Three to five years of multi-site property management and supervisory experience, preferably with a proven track record of financial results and leadership
- BA/BS degree preferred
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, auto insurance, and reliable transportation required for operating a motorized vehicle during work hours
- Computer literacy and effective communication skills in English
- Knowledge of federal and state apartment housing laws

Pay
$134,703. - $170,968. per year; in addition to base salary, a discretionary annual % bonus is provided.
