Area Manager - Homecare
Location: Based at our Truro office, covering Mid and West Cornwall
Contract: Full-time, permanent
About the role
Bluebird Care Mid & West Cornwall is a domiciliary care provider rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, supporting people to remain living safely and well in their own homes, with care arranged around each person's routine and preferences. Our home care service covers customers across Mid and West Cornwall.
The Area Manager leads and supports our team of Care Experts and holds oversight of customers across Mid and West Cornwall. You will work alongside the Registered Manager to ensure the home care service operates safely and consistently.
Responsibilities
- Support & effective running of the care team.
- Ensure the care we deliver is safe, effective and responsive to each customer's needs and preferences.
- Uphold customers' choices, dignity and privacy in every visit and every decision.
- Carry out care planning and risk assessments, and review packages of care as needs change.
- Guide, supervise and support Care Experts, and act as the point of contact when concerns arise.
- Build relationships with health and social care professionals across the county and support the development of new packages of care for adults living at home.
- Work effectively with customers, their families and representatives, and with colleagues across Bluebird Care.
Requirements
- Experience in domiciliary care or social care management.
- A social care qualification at Level 3, or a willingness to work towards it.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- The flexibility to take part in the on-call rota, approximately one week in ten.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Right to work in the UK.
Qualifications
- Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (desirable).
- Experience of CQC inspection and of the evidence that supports a strong rating (desirable).
- Confidence with care planning and rostering systems (desirable).
- Knowledge of health and social care networks across Cornwall (desirable).

Schedule
- 40 hours a week, plus on-call approximately one week in ten.
Professional Development
You will receive a structured induction, with dedicated time alongside the Registered Manager as you settle into the role. We will support you through your Level 3 if you do not already hold it, and through Level 5 if & when you are ready. You will have regular supervision, protected time for your own learning, and ongoing CPD throughout.
