Area Manager (Eastern, PA/NJ)

About the role

The Area Manager is responsible for developing independent restaurant and other related foodservice account business, with an emphasis on overall profitability through both new sales and account penetration. This role may also support customer service activities for regional and/or national chain customers to increase the company's visibility in the marketplace and maximize market share.

Responsibilities

• Generates additional business by analyzing sales territory and individual customers, sampling products with existing and potential customers, planning general sales strategy (including time and territory management), and conducting effective sales presentations.
• Grows sales and profit margins on an ongoing basis to meet established sales and margin goals.
• Sets up new customer accounts by determining pricing, working with the Credit Department for initial authorization, and coordinating with center personnel for scheduling order-taking, deliveries, etc.
• Performs initial follow-up work with customers to ensure delivery and product satisfaction.
• Ensures customer satisfaction by providing an exemplary level of service and coordinating with other center personnel to prevent and resolve customer problems.
• May personally make deliveries in emergency situations.
• Builds additional business with current customers through product penetration to maximize profitability of individual accounts.
• Minimizes accounts receivable problems by monitoring accounts for compliance with credit terms and following up on any issues.
• Maintains awareness of pricing trends within the sales territory, particularly for market-driven/commodity products, to ensure competitive pricing.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• 1-2 years of foodservice sales-related work experience.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Must live in the sales territory; relocation assistance may be considered for experienced candidates.
