Department: Civil/MunicipalLocation: Birmingham, ALCompensation: $150,000 - $165,000 / year Description Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring an Area Manager - Central Alabama for our Birmingham, AL office to lead operations, drive growth, and develop high-performing teams within the Central Alabama market. This role is responsible for overall business performance, client relationships, financial oversight, and strategic execution across the region. Your Primary Responsibilities will include Leadership & StrategyProvide day-to-day leadership aligned with company mission and core valuesDevelop and execute regional growth strategies aligned with company objectivesCreate and implement strategic plans to track KPIs and performance metricsPartner with senior leadership to strengthen operational structure and processesBusiness Development & Client LeadershipDrive revenue growth and profitability within the assigned marketServe as lead client account manager for key clients and major projectsRepresent the firm with integrity in client, community, and industry settingsIdentify and pursue new business opportunitiesFinancial & Operational ManagementOversee regional P&L, project budgets, and financial performanceMonitor cash flow and ensure timely client paymentsSupport financial reporting and proactively address efficiency gapsEnsure operational controls, reporting procedures, and performance standards are metTeam & Talent DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop Project Managers and Client Account ManagersFoster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performancePartner with HR and executive leadership on workforce planning and talent developmentRecruit, train, and develop future leadersAdditional DutiesSupervises Project Managers and Client Account Managers within the assigned regionRegular travel, including overnight travel, is requiredPosition may require extended hours to meet business objectives What you'll need Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
