Area Manager

About the role

As an Area Manager, you will supervise a team of Field Service Technicians and oversee the operation of compressor packages and equipment, including rentals, within one Area. You will maintain customer relationships and collaborate with Technicians and management to ensure safe, efficient, and economical day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

• Support employees by answering questions, prioritizing training, and leading by example.
• Communicate daily with Lead Technicians to review completed tasks, scheduled work, unit sets, and moves.
• Enforce processes to ensure Preventative Maintenance (PM) compliance.
• Monitor employee hours, ensure accurate daily time entry, correct discrepancies, manage overtime, and prioritize employee safety and wellbeing.
• Manage Work Order (WO) submissions daily and verify technician processes to maintain inventory goals.
• Analyze critical data and complete timely reports in operations, inventory, and finance systems.
• Maintain positive customer relationships and provide conflict resolution when necessary.
• Enforce Safety compliance, participate in monthly Safety meetings, and ensure attendance by direct reports.
• Conduct recurring Operations meetings with direct reports and superiors to communicate new or updated processes and review critical data.
• Perform additional miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in natural gas compression operations or a combination of OEM, trade school, or comparable work experience in a related field.
• High degree of mechanical intuition and ability.
• Comprehension of OEM and miscellaneous technical manuals, literature, and programs.
• Ability to configure gas compression equipment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Valid Driver’s License with Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) within acceptable parameters of Company Policy.
• Ability to understand written and verbal company and supervisory communication, including policies, procedures, instructions, and training.

Working Conditions

• Extended or non-traditional working hours may be required.
• Periodic lifting requirements in excess of 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand or walk on uneven terrain, climb personnel stairs and ladders, stoop, squat, and/or crawl depending on the task.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures, weather conditions, and environments on a location-by-location basis.
• High noise environment (>85 dbA) requiring ear protection.
• Potential controlled exposure to hazardous chemicals.
• Frequent use of computer and office equipment such as copier, printer, calendar, and telephone.
• Travel required 75–90 percent of the time worked.
