About the role

We are seeking a passionate Area Manager to lead your team in providing exceptional service, in-depth product knowledge, and expert beauty advice. As a Bluemercury Area Manager, you will drive sales and optimize customer service while building relationships. You will serve as the Store Manager in your home store and also as a multi-unit leader for several other nearby stores. The Temporary Area Manager performs the same functions and responsibilities as a regular Area Manager, just on a temporary basis.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Facilitate consistent team and individual communication to ensure collective knowledge.
  • Share the brand vision and business challenges, empowering the team while holding them accountable to high standards.
  • Exemplify our client-first service model in all interactions, personalizing your approach to build relationships.
  • Drive results by assisting clients, demonstrating best practices, and nurturing client loyalty.
  • Analyze business trends, develop strategies to achieve KPI success, and execute store-level events to drive sales.
  • Train and develop your team using coaching, empathy, and performance management strategies.
  • Actively recruit top performers and plan for succession.
  • Execute operational tasks proficiently, advocating for knowledge-sharing and teamwork to support scheduling, inventory control, and profitability.

Client-Facing Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong, personalized relationships with customers, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of beauty products across skincare, makeup, haircare, and fragrances, staying updated on trends.
  • Offer tailored product recommendations based on individual client needs and preferences.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and provide application tips to enhance customer experience and drive sales.
  • Drive sales through effective communication of product benefits and promotions, encouraging repeat business.
  • Support inventory management, ensuring product availability and a visually appealing store environment.
  • Participate in and occasionally lead in-store beauty workshops.
  • Collect customer feedback and provide insights to the management team for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect to strengthen relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to connect across all organizational levels.
  • Passion for beauty and staying updated with the latest trends and products.
  • Flexible availability, including days, evenings, Saturdays, and holidays.
  • Critical thinking, strategic partnerships, and inspirational leadership.
  • Resourcefulness and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • 2-3 years of retail management experience required; beauty industry preferred.
  • Advanced expertise in successful retail team leadership.
  • Ability to efficiently travel between locations on a weekly basis.
  • Excellent time management to handle competing priorities, teams, and locations.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing/walking around the store or department.
  • Prolonged exposure to fragrance and home fragrance products.
  • Frequent use of computers, handheld electronic equipment, and cash registers.
  • Reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and color vision.
  • Lifting and moving items weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Use of public transportation or driving to multiple locations.

This is a management position with multiple store managers and hourly employees as direct reports. The role reports to the District Manager in your region and is performed in your home store and several other locations where you have supervisory responsibilities.
