Job Description
The Area Manager oversees janitorial staff at assigned sites, ensuring customer satisfaction and adhering to budget constraints. Key responsibilities include:
- Selecting and placing janitorial personnel; making hiring decisions, conducting performance appraisals, and developing career plans.
- Assigning duties and tasks to employees, inspecting work for cleanliness and completion, and reviewing work to ensure quality service.
- Determining work procedures and preparing schedules, while ensuring the account stays within the established budget.
- Conducting new hire orientation, safety training, and job training to ensure employees can perform tasks efficiently and safely.
- Preparing and reviewing required paperwork, creating an open line of communication, and resolving employee relations problems and conflicts.
- Maintaining customer relationships by visiting accounts regularly, monitoring work order opportunities, and addressing customer concerns.
- Ensuring all mandatory Quality Control site visits are completed and documented.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two (2) years of management experience in a service-related industry, preferably in the janitorial field.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred but not required.
- Prior cleaning or janitorial experience is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with custodial practices and commercial cleaning standards is preferred but not required.
- Experience in industrial cleaning or facilities maintenance is preferred but not required.
