Area Maintenance Specialist

About the role

Located at 124 Central Avenue, Osseo, Minnesota 55369, the Maintenance Technician performs regular preventative and unscheduled/emergency maintenance on production equipment, maintains parts inventory, coordinates with vendors, and ensures compliance with USDA/FDA, OSHA, and GMP standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular preventative and unscheduled/emergency maintenance on a variety of equipment associated with the production area.
• Keep equipment parts inventory list, order replacement parts as necessary.
• Detect and notify the Production Supervisor or Production Manager of questionable conditions and/or equipment that is not working properly.
• Work with outside vendors as necessary.
• Perform maintenance of building and grounds as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Perform all duties in compliance with USDA or FDA, OSHA and state and local regulations and company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and the use of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• A two-year degree or completion of a program in mechanical or industrial maintenance a plus.
• 5+ years’ manufacturing experience with strong skills in equipment repair and maintenance.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must possess knowledge of the following: machine repair, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting and janitorial skills.
• Required to be familiar with and use the hand tools and power tools necessary to perform those skills.
• Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controls (PLC).
• Ability to comprehend verbal instructions and read and interpret machine specs, instruction manuals and product labels.
• Reliable and dependable; available to work Monday through Friday and occasionally Saturday or Sunday as directed by management.
• High level of job motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Physical demands: stoop, kneel, bend at waist level, walk and stand repetitively throughout the shift; lift and move objects up to 40 pounds occasionally; exposed to strong odors, wet floors, fumes, noise and cold temperatures on a regular basis.
• Work environment: variable hours on all shifts, weekends and holidays; tasks generally indoors in a temperature‑controlled setting but may include exposure to extreme temperatures (hot/cold), vapors/fumes/food odors, high humidity, noise, household chemicals; occasional work in walk‑in cooler/freezer; occasional noise; work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.

Pay

Starting Pay Range: $18.00 to $22.00 per hour.

Schedule

Shift Availability: Weekdays Only (Monday–Friday), with occasional Saturday or Sunday as directed. Employment Type: Full‑time.
