About the Role

The Area Director (AD) is a field-based leadership position responsible for coaching, training, and mentoring a regional Oncology Clinical Nurse Educator (OCNE) team. This role ensures team performance aligns with product strategy and complies with regulatory and healthcare guidelines. The AD reports to the National Director of the OCNE Team.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the evolving oncology marketplace and regional influences.
  • Screen, interview, hire, and retain qualified talent from diverse backgrounds for the OCNE regional team.
  • Utilize effective leadership skills to support the OCNE team in developing and maintaining strategic territory plans.
  • Evaluate and coach OCNE team members on product knowledge, disease states, and the oncology landscape.
  • Lead a team of OCNEs to provide on-label, company-approved education in an inclusive and supportive environment.
  • Foster a creative, innovative, and high-performing team built on trust, transparency, and strategic purpose.
  • Collaborate on the creation and implementation of OCNE educational and field execution strategies.
  • Work with the National Director to develop annual performance goals, objectives, and appropriate measures.
  • Provide career development support, identifying project and internal networking opportunities for all team members.
  • Participate in the creation, implementation, and maintenance of OCNE field collaborative strategies to ensure compliant partnerships across customer-facing teams (e.g., sales, medical).
  • Complete administrative duties, including review and communication of team engagement reports, expense reports, and trainings.
  • Consistently achieve results and hold self and team accountable for performance.

Requirements

  • A degree in nursing or equivalent experience is required; advanced nursing qualifications preferred.
  • Active RN license or Advanced Practice License (Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist) required.
  • Extensive experience in hematology/oncology across clinical practice and pharmaceutical settings.
  • Minimum of relevant experience in disease state and product-related education; senior-level experience preferred.
  • Relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry or people management is preferred but not required.
  • Oncology-specific certification is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to develop strong partnerships and work cross-functionally.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time; accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote) or equivalent software.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, or equivalent means of transportation.

Pay

$244,039 - $262,038.00
