About the role
National Technologies (NTI), a Network Connex Company, is a premier turnkey installer of fiber optic and data center infrastructure. The Area Director will lead NTI’s engineering, splicing, and data center installations in the market. In collaboration with department leaders, you will create strategic plans aligned with company objectives, ensure market compliance with company protocols, and achieve financial targets while maximizing sales and profitability. This role involves driving new revenue and growth, maintaining and growing customer relationships with key industry stakeholders, and managing all operational aspects of the market.
Responsibilities
- Manage the operational aspects of the market, organizing staffing and tasks to ensure efficiency and proactive change management.
- Oversee area leadership and their teams, participating in national and regional meetings.
- Ensure future profitability through performance reviews and discussions on competencies and results.
- Provide leadership on cost management for customer quotes while adhering to customer timelines.
- Build and maintain a customer base, identifying prospective clients and determining account viability.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to develop business cases for strategic initiatives, including cost-benefit analysis.
- Manage human resources, including hiring, training, compensation, discipline, and policy implementation.
- Conduct market evaluations of personnel and market status.
- Hold staff meetings and mentor regional staff.
- Ensure compliance with local, federal, and corporate regulations and standards.
- Source high-quality operational, engineering, and administrative resources using your network.
- Identify and establish new markets through detailed research.
- Acquire necessary assets for success, such as real estate, vehicles, tools, and stock items.
- Apply budget-minded principles to review and ensure profitability on projects.
- Foster a positive and safe working environment through behavior reinforcement and job requirement clarity.
- Serve as a corporate liaison to champion cultural initiatives and drive operational efficiency.
- Coordinate and communicate activities with other employees, departments, and management.
- Engage with customers and employees via phone or email to provide guidance, quotes, emergency responses, and other requests as needed, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Travel may be required depending on business needs.
Requirements
- Familiarity with the local market, including target clients, competition, project opportunities, suppliers, and partners.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to review and understand project contracts and requirements.
- Proven customer service skills and ability to maintain composure in a shifting environment.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized under pressure.
- Strong time management skills for meeting deadlines and reporting progress.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint (Visio and Adobe a plus).
- Familiarity with internet tools and search engines.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, or Operations Manager.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience (Master’s degree preferred).
- 5+ years of relevant job experience in a similar industry or with similar essential duties.
- 5+ years of experience leading highly productive and cohesive teams (preferred).
- 5+ years of extensive working knowledge of fiber optic and/or data centers (preferred).
- Desired fields of study: Electronics, Telecommunications, Construction, or Project Management.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to carry and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Requires sitting for long periods, walking, standing, bending, and using fine motor skills such as finger dexterity.
