About the role

We’re looking for an Archives Intern who is detail-oriented and has a passion for local history and culture. In this role, you’ll assist the company Historian in cataloguing, preserving, and interpreting historical and archival data and artifacts for ease of retrieval.

Responsibilities

• Assist the company Historian in cataloguing, preserving, and interpreting historical and archival data and artifacts
• Gather requested data or material for the company and family
• Assist the company Historian in presenting the history of the TABASCO® brand, the McIlhenny family and company, and Avery Island to visitors
• Maintain exhibits in the TABASCO® Museum and the Visitors Center
• Perform administrative and clerical functions, such as proofreading and editing various short documents prepared by the Archives
• Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Currently attending college and pursuing a major or minor in History
• Be able to work 10-20 hours a week
• Proficient in MS Office Suite
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Attention to detail

Qualifications

• Be pursuing a graduate or post baccalaureate degree in History
