About the role
Craving an exciting internship? We’re looking for an Archives Intern who is detail-oriented and has a passion for local history and culture. Create a competitive edge in the job market by working for a well-known global brand. Receive hands-on experience working in an Archive, maintaining Museum exhibits, and assisting the Historian & Curator with a variety of archival projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist the company Historian in cataloguing, preserving, and interpreting historical and archival data and artifacts for ease of retrieval
- Assist in gathering requested data or material for the company/family
- Assist the company Historian as required in presenting to visitors the history of the TABASCO® brand, the McIlhenny family and company, and Avery Island in general
- Assist the company Historian in maintaining exhibits in the TABASCO® Museum and the Visitors Center
- Perform administrative/clerical functions, i.e., proofread/edit various short documents prepared by the Archives
- Complete other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Currently attending college and pursuing a major or minor in History
- Be able to work 10–20 hours a week
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Attention to detail
Qualifications
- Be a Junior or Senior History major
- Be pursuing a graduate or post baccalaureate degree in History
Pay
$15/hour
